The Bergneustadt site in Germany and Angers in France were both independently audited within a few weeks and can now process sustainable plastics with approval for direct food contact under the ISCC Plus certificate.
This certification sets strict requirements for the transparent traceability of the sustainable plastics put into circulation, according to the principle of mass balance.
The raw materials are produced by chemical recycling or bio-based substances that are otherwise produced as waste in other industrial sectors.
In order to obtain such a certificate on a finished product, everyone, from the raw material manufacturer to the processor, to the bottler, is certified ISCC-Plus. With this step, the GIZEH Group - as part of the supply chain - is making a further contribution towards sustainable recycling management.
The use of renewable plastics for the first customer projects is planned for this year.
